MIMIR <\/b>in a nutshell<\/h2>

MIMIR in an EIC Transition project, aiming at the development of the world\u2019s smallest FTIR spectrometer operating in the spectral range extending from 1.3 \u03bcm to 10 \u03bcm. This spectrometer will be the heart of a new \u00b5Spectra-MIR product family, whose key distinctive features are portability, robustness and low-cost. MIMIR is based on the FTIR spectrometer developed in the BROMEDIR<\/a> project.<\/p> <\/div>

The MIMIR <\/b>Use Cases<\/h2>

Soil Health Assessment: <\/b>Appraisal of soil quality is turning into a standard work for crop production. Traditional soil sampling to monitor chemical, biological and physical properties is not at the resolution (spatial and temporal) required for precision applications and monitoring of soil quality indicators. The MIMIR device for soil quality evaluation will rely on the upgraded spectrometer, integrated into a handheld unit for performing the required measurements in the field.

Human Health Diagnostics<\/b>: Clinical laboratory analysis of blood and urine is commonly used for diagnostics, including kidney diseases, diabetes, liver problems, and various infections or health risks. These analyses including sample preparation are usually costly and\/or time-consuming, done in centralised labs. A portable MIMIR analyser will be built for the diagnosis of human health in a rapid, cost-effective manner, while requiring minimal sample preparation. MIMIR\u2019s initial focus will be on kidney diseases diagnostics\/monitoring.<\/p> <\/div>
